The Portland Cement Association (PCA) named Michael Schon as vice president and counsel for government affairs. He will have lead responsibility for shepherding the association’s regulatory advocacy efforts and for promoting the cement industry in general.
Schon comes to PCA from Baker Botts L.L.P., where he served as senior associate in the environmental practice group. In that capacity, he represented energy and manufacturing clients in environmental litigation and provided regulatory guidance and counseling for federal and state environmental issues.
“The cement and concrete manufacturers face a variety of regulatory issues that will determine the future of industry,” said A. Todd Johnston, vice president of government affairs at PCA. “We are delighted to have someone with Michael’s experience join our staff at this crucial time.”
Prior to his work at Baker Botts L.L.P., Schon served as trial attorney for the United States Department of Justice, and was a law clerk in the Arizona Court of Appeals. Schon holds his Juris Doctor from Arizona State University College of Law, and a baccalaureate degree in philosophy from Northern Arizona University.
